Severe storms briefly swept through Washington County Sunday morning. At 9:19a.m. The National Weather Service in the Quad Cities issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for portions of Washington, Louisa and Johnson Counties in Southeast Iowa, with the storm located over the city of Riverside. Radar indicated hazards included 60mph winds and quarter-sized hail. A storm spotter in Riverside reported they observed quarter-sized hail just after 9:30a.m. The cities of Riverside, Hills and Lone Tree all reported one tenth of inch of rain as the system moved through.

Two members of the KCII Severe Weather Action Team responded and provided live coverage on-air. Had the power gone out, coverage would have continued with our emergency back-up generators. The one to count on for up-to-the-minute severe weather coverage is KCII.
