
Three local teams took on a stacked field at Saturday’s Gary Curtis Wrestling Invitational at Highland High School.
The home Huskies had the best finish of all area teams, placing fifth of 16 schools with 102.5 points. Alburnett was the winner with 235 points. The Huskies had one finalist, with Landon Sweeting finishing runner-up at 106lbs. Other top performers included Cash Cole at 120lbs and Rocky Hamilton at 144 both third, Brock Nebergall at 126lbs, Tyler Pierson at 132 and Brock Thomann at 138 were all fourth and Jack Cave at 106lbs finished fifth.
The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks were 10th with 60.5 points. Josh Turner at 175lbs and Tommy Miller at 215lbs each finished third to lead the Hawks. Brock Fisher was fourth at heavyweight.
The WACO Warriors finished 12th as a team with 41.5 points. Ian Maize took the top podium spot for the Warriors as runner-up at 113lbs. Rydge Sterna was fifth at 120.
