Iowans have the opportunity to share their thoughts on the State Wildlife Action Plan, which impacts the 25-year strategy for conservation efforts in the state. The Iowa Department of Natural Resources states they are seeking comments on the review and revision of the plan titled “Securing a Future for Fish and Wildlife: A Conservation Legacy for Iowans.”

The plan is described as “a proactive plan designed to conserve all wildlife in Iowa before they become rare and more costly to protect.”

The Iowa Wildlife Action Plan was first approved in 2006. It is a cooperative effort including land managers, fish and wildlife biologists, individual conservationists, and those with an interest in wildlife conservation.

Such action plans are reviewed every 10 years as mandated by Congress.
