The Louisa County Sheriff’s Office issued a “soft” lockdown for area schools around 11 a.m. Friday.
According to a release from the sheriff’s office, a potential threat was made towards an unspecified area school. A “soft” lockdown means that students and staff can move freely about the building but they are not allowed to leave the building.
This includes Wapello, Columbus Community, and Louisa-Muscatine school buildings.
Each school district has a deputy on scene for security purposes. The individual that was making threats had been identified, and is currently being located.
KCII will bring you more information as it becomes official.
