
Iowa’s corn is one day ahead of the five-year average with 84% of it silking across the state. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, in southeast Iowa corn is ahead of the state rate with 87% of corn silking and 27% has reached the dough stage.
Statewide corn is rated at 28% excellent, 59% good, 10% fair, and 3% poor to very poor.
Southeast Iowa’s soybeans are ahead of the five-year average of 48% of soybeans setting pods, with a current rate of 57%.
Statewide soybeans are rated at 21% excellent, 61% good, 15% fair, and 3% poor to very poor.
Wet conditions last week left farmers with 3.6 days suitable for fieldwork.
