
Downtown repairs for a phase of a building project have been completed at 217 West Main Street in Washington.
The Washington City Council recently approved the pay out of a Downtown Investment Grant to Isabella and Edward Santoro for the repair of the building located at 217 West Main Street. The building sustained major fire damage in February of 2023.
The Emergency Repair Phase for their Downtown Investment Grant project was completed. The project repairs included removing the burnt out roof and rafters. Eight feet of the brick wall was torn down. New beams were installed and a new eight-foot wall. A new roof was installed. The electric service was also updated to current electrical code. The total project cost was $204,381 and the payment of $50,000 will complete the DIG project awarded in 2023.
DIG is a grant program through Main Street Washington for property owners in the downtown district to improve buildings and enhance Washington.
