A preliminary hearing will be held next week for a Washington man charged with attempted murder. Twenty-eight-year old Maicol Godoy Moncada was arrested Thursday in Washington. He’s charged with willful injury – causing serious injury, a class C felony; attempted murder, a class B felony; going armed with intent, a class D felony; and assault while displaying a dangerous weapon, an aggravated misdemeanor.

According to court documents, authorities responded to a report of an assault in Washington Thursday morning and Godoy Moncada allegedly stabbed the victim twice in the back with a five-inch knife. The victim was taken by ambulance to the University of Iowa Hospital.

Godoy Moncada was taken to the Washington County Jail and bond was set at $500,000. A preliminary hearing has been set for Friday, June 13th at the Washington County Courthouse.
