air-quality-6-3-25

Due to smoke from Canadian wildfires, an Air Quality Alert is in place across Iowa. The Iowa Department of Natural Resources issued the alert on Tuesday as the air quality index may reach an unhealthy category. The alert is in place through 6 a.m. Thursday.

People in sensitive groups as well as the general public may experience health effects at this level. Intermittent thick smoke is expected over areas of Iowa. The DNR recommends people to reduce long or intense activities outside until the air quality conditions improve. People with heart or lung disease, older adults, children and teenagers, and outdoor workers are recommended to take more breaks during outdoor activities during this time. Consider rescheduling activities or move them indoors.
