Washington seniors were recognized recently during the annual awards ceremony. 

Last Tuesday, 103 scholarships were awarded to graduating seniors totaling over $200,000.

Some of the special arts awards included the National School Choral Award presented to Claire Wubbena, and the Orpheus Award given to Katherine Flannery. The Iowa High School Speech Association Hall of Fame Scholarship that is only awarded to four students in the state was presented to Isabella Lujan. 

The graduation speakers were announced and they will be Lauren Horak, Isabella Lujan, and Frida Romero Ramirez.

Washington seniors will be walking the stage for their diplomas this Sunday at 1:30 p.m. in the high school gym. The last day of classes for the district is Friday.
