Friday was a big day for the WACO music department. Fifteen Warriors competed across several categories at the Southeast Iowa Bandmaster Association Solo/Ensemble Contest at Mount Pleasant. Reese Roth and Mya Donaldson were both recognized as Outstanding Musicians at the site. Receiving highest marks of I+ ratings were Eva Bender on euphonium, Donaldson on saxophone, Olive Bailey on flute, and Roth on violin. Other Division I ratings included: Preston Lasek on bass and piano; the violin quartet of Ada Davidson, Addy Leichty, Roth and Donaldson; Hunter Wilson and Bailey on a cello/violin duet; Macie Carter and Brinley Conrad on a flute/clarinet duet; and Roth and Donaldson on violin and sax duets. Carli Roth and Eli Castro combined on a viola duet for a I- rating, and Bailey was also rated I- on a viola solo.
