The Golden Hawk Archery Club hit their mark this weekend at the Iowa State Bullseye and 3D Championships in Des Moines.

At the high school level, the Hawks qualified for the National 3D Tournament as a team, finishing third of 29 schools with their 1701 score, only 18 behind state champion Spencer’s 1719. Freshman Lael Seale shot a blistering 293, with 23 tens, to win the girls high school state title and post the second highest boys or girls score of the whole tournament, out of more than 550 competitors. The Hawk’s Ava Miller finished fifth individually with a 286 and 20 tens. Averi Janecek hit top 20 in 17th. Elijah Statler had the top boys day, placing 13th of 254 with a 286 and 20 tens. Landon Kuenster made top 20 in 18th.

The high school Hawks were 11th of 34 teams in bullseye with a 3327 combined score. Cedar Rapids Prairie won the championship with 3392. Top performers included Janecek for the girls in 13th with a 286 and 18 tens with Ava Miller 19th. For the boys, Kuenster and Statler checked in at 33rd each with 285s and 18 tens.

The middle school Hawks were seventh of 27 teams in the block shoot with a 3229 score. West Fork won state with 3272. Top boys round was Noah Coblentz 12th with a 281 and 16 tens. Teammate Braxton Ropp made top 20 in 16th. Best girls day was Kylee Berry 78th with a 265 and eight tens. The Hawks were 18th of 25 teams in 3D with 1566, West Fork were the state champs at 1664. Preston Ford led the Golden Hawk boys with a 28th place 274 and 14 tens. Top girls performer was Mya Brenneman 103rd at 245 and 11 tens.

For the elementary Hawks, the top score from the 3D range where Levi Coblentz was 12th with 256 and 10 tens. In bullseye, Coblentz was the boys leader in 25th at 258 with six tens. For the girls, Zayley Jaspering was 39th with a 246 that included three tens.

The high school Hawks will shoot at 3D Nationals at the Kentucky Expo Center in Louisville May 8th through the 10th.
