Tomorrow the Washington County Engineer’s Office will begin replacing the culvert under Old Military Road in Ainsworth with a new reinforced concrete box culvert. The road was originally closed on Wednesday, September 8th due to a collapsed culvert. Assistant County Engineer Jacob Thorius says “this project is an emergency repair job and will reopen a main road in Ainsworth.” He says the City of Ainsworth is helping “a little bit” with the costs of the project, and his office is “in the beginning stages of the process” to possibly receive disaster assistance from FEMA. During construction the intersection of Old Military Road and North Railroad Street will be closed. The project should last a month, depending on the weather.
