A Marion man will serve a life sentence for the murder of a Fairfield woman.
On Friday, 36-year-old Douglas Foster of Marion was found guilty in the murder of 20-year-old Lea Ponce. In January, the deceased body of Ponce was found on the side of a road in Muscatine County. A few days later Foster was arrested after investigators found him hiding in an attic along with some of Ponce’s belongings.
Muscatine County Attorney Alan Ostergren says the murder was motivated by Foster’s desire to get drugs stating, “Because he wanted to get high a young woman tragically lost her life.” Foster was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
