The Winfield-Mt. Union and Highland boys and girls track teams were in action Tuesday at Mediapolis.

On the boys side of the meet the Wolves had the top finish, taking fourth of seven teams with a score of 69.50 points. Mount Pleasant won the meet with 182 points. The Wolves crowned one champion on the night with Brandon Snowden taking the 100 with a time of 11.23 seconds. Other top finishes for WMU included Snowden second in the 200, Noah Sparrow second in the 3200, Talon Newton second in the high jump, second for the sprint medley team of Christian Gerot, Brody Barton, Snowden and Juanito Piper. Piper was third in the 100 and the 4×100 team of Gerot, Barton, Snowden and Piper were also third.

The Highland boys were seventh with 22 points. Top finishes for the Huskies included runner-up for the 4×200 team of Connor Grinstead, Trey Lasek, Bryce Waters and Kadin Jepson, fourth for Jepson in the 100, fourth for Grinstead in the long jump and fourth for the sprint medley team of Waters, Mason McFarland, Jepson and Lasek.

The Winfield-Mt. Union girls were third of seven teams with 84 points. West Burlington Notre Dame won the team title with 133 points. The Wolves won three titles on the night with Kyndal Townsley taking the 100 hurdles in 17.95 seconds, Jobey Malone winning the discus with a throw of 110’6″ and the shuttle hurdle relay team of Jami Wilkerson, Ali Cockerham, Kayla Edwards and Townsley winning gold in 1:19.36. Other top finishes for WMU included Whitney Vantiger second in the 400 hurdles, Anna Hudson second in the shot put, Jobey Malone third in the shot put and Farah Nelson third in the 800.

Highland was sixth with 64 points. The Huskies had one championship event on the night with Emily Yahnke winning the long jump clearing 17’2.5″. Other top finishes for Highland included a runner-up for the 4×100 team of Sarah Schneider, Aly Stokes, Kristy Thomann and Yahnke. That same team also finished as runners-up in the 4×200. The distance medley team of Jenna Sands, Haley Sweeting, Taylor Sublette and Madi Thomann was second, Alli Brand was third in the 3000 and the 4×800 team of Sublette, Fiona Mahler, Alyssa Clark and Thomann were third.
