Pigs will take to the sky again this Saturday in downtown Washington as the Washington County YMCA holds their annual Flying Pigs Duathlon.

The event consists of a 5k run, followed by a 20 mile bike ride and a mile and a half run. The bike ride will begin on the Washington square and take participants west out of Washington on 250th street then north on Hemlock Avenue to Highway 92 and back to the city along Hemlock Avenue and 250th street. The 5k course begins on the square with participants running north on 2nd avenue to west fifth, circling near sunset park and returning to the square. The mile and a half run begins on the square, goes west on main street to Sunset Park and returns to the square. Participants can take on all three parts on their own or join a team to split up the event. Individual registration is $40 each, teams of two are $60 total. Proceeds will be used to purchase equipment for the new YMCA facility. For more information visit washingtony.org.
