Iowa’s strawberries are reaching their peak seasons.
Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig encourages Iowans to visit a local strawberry grower or shop for strawberries at an area farmers market. In Iowa, strawberry harvest season lasts about four weeks with varying times across the state. Strawberries offer vitamin C, folic acid, potassium, and fiber while only having 55 calories per cup. The Washington Farmers’ Market is held each Thursday in Central Park at 5 p.m. Click here to find out where to get locally grown fresh strawberries.
