The Keokuk Chiefs scored a non-conference softball win Friday at Carr, Vincent, Gould Field in Kalona over Mid-Prairie 15-4 in five innings.

In a game heard on KCII, the Chiefs jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the second inning, smacking six hits and sending 11 batters to the plate in the frame. Mid-Prairie answered back in the bottom of the second with four of their own with Hayley Yoder, Rylee Vercande and Karsen Jehle each driving in runs. Keokuk stayed hot the rest of the game at the plate, scoring four in the third, four more in the fourth and a pair in the fifth to end the game. Cassidy Rourke took the loss for the Hawks in the circle, she went two plus, giving up eight hits, seven runs, walking three and striking out one. Mid-Prairie is now 1-5 on the year as they travel to the University of Iowa Tournament Saturday.
