Soon Washington County’s rural residents will have a safe place to dispose of ashes.
At the recent Washington County Board of Supervisors meeting it was announced that the specialty container that was ordered to hold ashes has arrived at the Washington County Recycle Center. Washington County Attorney John Gish explained legally it can start to be used October 3rd, as a 60- business day period is required for any changes in the agreement, and the change was agreed upon July 11th. The container was ordered to prevent rural residents from disposing of ashes with their garbage, which can be dangerous should an ember ignite. The center is operated by WEMIGA Waste. The center is open Monday-Friday 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturdays from 7 a.m. to noon.
