The National Weather Service advises there will be an extended period of heat and humidity this week as a hot and humid air mass moves into the Midwest, pushing heat indices to about 106 degrees. An excessive heat warning is in effect from noon Wednesday to 8 p.m. Saturday. There is an increased risk for heat exhaustion or heat stroke. Remember to drink plenty of fluids, stay out of the sun, stay in an air-conditioned room, and check on relatives and neighbors, especially the elderly. Listen to KCII for weather updates.
