A period of heavy rain Thursday evening forced a mid-game postponement of Washington’s baseball and softball doubleheader against Southeast Conference rival the Mount Pleasant Panthers.

KCII Sports broadcasted live from Dick Sojka Memorial Field as lightning forced the baseball game to stop in the top of the fourth inning with Mount Pleasant leading 3-2. Washington scored single runs in the first and third innings. The Demons recorded two outs defensively before play stopped. When the game resumes, Mount Pleasant’s Keegan Rich will be on second base and Pat Canby will return to the batters box with a 3-0 count. The makeup date for the baseball game has yet to be determined.

The softball game was in the bottom of the third inning before weather interrupted the contest with Mount Pleasant leading 5-3. The teams will resume their game on Wednesday at Washington High School.
