The Keota Eagle boys basketball team had a bounce back 2015-16 season.

Following a 12-10 year, Keota finished this season as outright champions of the South Iowa Cedar League East division with a 14-4 record in league play and a 17-7 mark overall.

The Eagles had a high powered offense, leading the east division of the conference in scoring at 66 points per game and free throw shooting at 64% as a team. The Eagles were second in the league in three point shooting and field goal percentage. They were also first in assists with 366 and rebounding with 798. The Eagle defense led the conference with 252 steals, 79 blocked shots and points allowed, surrendering just 49 per game.

Individually, Keota was led by senior Zach Mousel at 13 points per game, sixth best in the South Iowa Cedar League. Jacob Wickenkamp led the Eagles with 106 assists, second in the conference. Paden Uphold’s 52 steals were best on the team and third best in the conference. Avery Conrad led Keota on the glass, pulling in 200 rebounds, third best in the conference.

The Eagles were eliminated in the district championship game February 25th at Mid-Prairie High School in Wellman, falling to Montezuma 56-45.
