While it may seem that not much work is being done to the exterior of the new Washington Area Performing Arts and Events Center, crews have been busy working on the interior. Jan Gallagher, with the theater committee, tells KCII News work on the south side of the Washington High School has continued six days each week recently to reach the point they’re at today. The roof membrane is installed over the set shop, storage mezzanine, the auditorium and stage area. Also, the contractor has started to excavate the main level sloped seating and began pouring footings for the masonry walls. Steel erection is also underway in the lobby area.

The committee is still working to raise approximately $333,000. Check KCII Radio’s Facebook page Tuesday afternoon for photos from the site.
