After a brief rise gas prices are continuing to slide around Iowa and the rest of the nation. According to the website Gasbuddy.com, the average price in Iowa is down over six cents per gallon from one week ago. Compared to last year, prices are down more than 72 cents per gallon. The average price in the state is $2.34 per gallon.
Currently in Washington prices are right at $2.28, however checking around the area we found gas selling for as little as $2.05 per gallon in Wayland. Statewide, we found gas selling for as much as $2.79 in North Liberty and as little as $1.94 in Fort Dodge. There are now eight states with an average price below $2 per gallon.
