The Sigourney boys cross country team took home the team conference title Thursday at the South Iowa Cedar League Championship meet in Sigourney.
The Savages won the meet with their score of 56 points. Belle Plaine was second with 75 points. Top finisher for the Savages was Tyler Crawford, he finished as the individual runner up with his time of 18:09. Other Sigourney finishers included Will Flanegin in sixth, Luke House 14th, Tommy Stout 19th, Tristan Bell 22nd, Aaron Michel 36th, Kaleb Reeves 55th, Gavin Jones 58th, Trey Shafranek 63rd, Jesse Fritz 64th, and Noah Reeves 65th. Individual conference champion was Canyon Kuhlmann of Lynnville-Sully with a time of 18:03.
Keota did not have enough boys runners to qualify for a team score. The Eagles were led by Turner Klein in fifth with his time of 18:26, Logan Sieren was eighth, Jason Ree 44th, and Dylan Burgdorf 47th.
On the girls side of the event Lynnville-Sully won the team title with 41 points. Sigourney finished third as a team with their score of 74 points. Top finisher for the Savages was Paige Thompson in 12th with a time of 24:16. Other Sigourney finishers included Summer Barthleman in 14th, Madaline Berg 20th, Megan Montgomery 23rd, Lainey Graff 24th, Lily Hammes 30th, Sarina Gretter 31st and Jasmine Abell 53rd. Individual girls conference champion was Dakota Hostetter of Colfax-Mingo with her time of 21:00.
Sigourney and Keota cross country teams will be both in action next at their state qualifying meet Thursday at Seminole Valley in Cedar Rapids.
