WASHINGTON- The Washington Demon varsity volleyball team looked to end their current losing streak at home Tuesday night against Keokuk Chiefs.
The Demons dropped the first set, and had to play catch up the rest of the match. Ultimately, the Demons would lose in 5 sets to the Chiefs (17-25, 25-19, 20-25, 25-22, 12-15), and extend their losing streak to four matches. Washington Head Volleyball Coach Julianna Berg says a key to tonight’s loss was the amount of unforced errors the girls made, a problem the Demon’s have been battling all season long
“It just comes with practice and knowing the situation.” Berg said, : “Just understanding when its good to take a risk, and when its a good time to play it safe.”
The Demons had 15 service errors and 30 hitting errors in the loss, which drops Washington to 2-9 overall on the season. Junior Amber Salow recorded a double double with 12 kills and 13 digs, while Senior Lauren Swan added 8 kills and had 23 assists in the setback. Washington will be back in action Thursday evening as they are home hosting Mid Prairie-Wellman.
