Kalona made products are available at the Iowa State Fair due to the help of volunteers. Every morning, a van filled with bakery items and other goods is leaving Kalona for the fairgrounds in Des Moines. The items are sold at the Kalona Chamber of Commerce’s booth in the Varied Industries Building, which is manned by local volunteers. Chamber Treasurer Norma Yoder says the chamber has been active at the fair for nearly three decades. The Iowa State Fair began last week and continues through Sunday.
