A bill dealing with access to faster internet failed this session, but the Iowa legislature will likely take it up during the next. House File 2472 would have established tax breaks for companies that built broadband infrastructure that provided high speed internet to rural areas.

Representative for District 84, Dave Heaton, says the piece of legislation didn’t receive enough votes because it had a few problems. One of those problems was the fact it allowed the use of copper lines, which can’t achieve the high speed connections the legislation set out to provide.

He expects another bill that improves on the one that failed to come up in the 2015 session.
