The Washington boys track and field team ran at Central College on Friday.
Jacob Hennigan ran in the 55 hurdles, and ran a prelim time of 7.73, and a final time of 7.77 to finish fifth in a meet with over 100 participants.
Tommy Peterson won the shot put with a throw of 51’10”, placing him as one of the top shot putters in the state despite class size. Alex Coker won the long jump with a leap of 20’11”.
Finally the 4×200 meter relay team of Gage Redlinger, Hennigan, Carl Sivels and Coker finished as runners-up to Iowa City West in a time of 1:37.
Demon head coach Steve Roth said between Central and Iowa State, it was one of the best weeks Demon track and field has seen in awhile.
“Just an outstanding night by those juniors and seniors again, I ran the whole team last night, and some underclassmen ran some nice times, but it has been an outstanding week, it’s been very impressive,” Roth said.
Washington hosts their Washington Relays on Thursday if the weather holds. First event starts at 4:30.
