The Highland boys basketball team got two kids on the all conference team.
Josh Brase was a unanimous selection for first team all-conference for the Huskies. He led the team in scoring with 351 points in the conference season, and added 15 steals, 16 blocks and 72 rebounds as well.
Highland head coach Marcus Hall talked about what a special player Brase is.
“He had some highlights throughout the year, in some games throughout the year, that were very impressive from an individual standpoint,” Hall said. “He also raised the level of his teammates. The 31 points he had against Pekin was huge, he also set the school record for scoring, but I think that school record 50 points game, was everything coming to fruition that he has done all year long: averaging 21 points per game, unanimous first team all-conference pick, so he had the respect of his peers, and really, it is going to be hard to see Josh go. I’ve never coached a game or practice that Josh hasn’t been a part of, so it will be hard to see him go.”
On second team for the Huskies is Chris Ford. Ford was second in scoring with 229 points, and had 39 assists, 32 steals and 71 rebounds.
Honorable mentions for Highland are Colin Sexton and Trent Lasek.
Highland finished the year 13-9.
