The Winfield Public Library has been busy planning for their 2026 summer reading program. This year’s theme is Plant a Seed and Read. Registration for the program began Wednesday. The summer will begin with an afternoon program on June 3 in conjunction with Henry County Extension. There will be an additional three programs in coordination with Henry County Extension on June 10, July 1 and July 8.
Winfield Public Library Director Jacque Lake discusses what people can expect to learn about this summer at the library, “I’m going to do something really cool this year. It’s called ‘A Book to Read with a Worm,’ and so each child will get to have a worm, and we’ll talk about the parts of the worm and how you can tell the front from the back. A lady here in town who does local history, she’s going to do some things about the Revolutionary War since this is the 250th anniversary of that. Local tribes that lived in the area, just local history around here.”
The 2026 summer reading program is slated to end July 10. For more information, contact the Winfield Public Library at 319-257-3247.
