Eligible voters who would like to vote in the June 2nd primary election and who are not yet registered are encouraged to register before the May 18th deadline for pre-registration.

According to Washington County Elections Administrator Angela Langstraat, people who are already registered to vote in Washington County do not need to re-register to participate in this election.

Voter registration forms can be obtained at the Washington County Auditor’s Office, which is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, May 18th. Forms can also be filled out online at the links with this news story at KCIIRadio.com

Absentee ballots will be available beginning on May 13th. Voters who plan to vote absentee by mail must first complete, sign and submit a request form. These completed requests can be received by the auditor’s office up to 70 days before an election. In the primary election, the absentee request forms are due by June 2nd.

Iowans are also able to register to vote and cast a ballot on election day. They must provide proof of their identity and proof of residency at their polling place. People are encouraged to register at their county auditor’s office in advance.
