The county’s recycling center has seen a decline in usage. The Washington County Board of Supervisors heard from Lynn Whaley with WEMIGA Waste for the Washington County Recycling Center update, with a report of decreased usage from last year, “There is the comparison of the first quarter of 2025 on the trash side of things, the landfill side of things. You are actually down from 184.94 tons in 2025 to this first quarter of 176.85, so tonnage is down a little bit. Then recycling, on that side of it you are actually down a little bit. From 52.65 in 2025 is the gross for the first quarter, and then in 2026 the gross for the first quarter was 51.87 tons. So not a big drop in recycling but there is a bit of a drop in recycling.”

The supervisors acknowledged the update. All information pertaining to county recycling can be found on the county website.
