The Washington girls’ golf team got its week started at Fort Madison Monday, placing fifth in the field of SEC opponents with a team score of 235.

The Demons were without both Adalyn Long and Elizabeth Hora, who were the top two finishers for Washington at each of the first two meets this season. Despite that, junior Lucy Sands was able to step up and put forth a solid effort, finishing sixth overall with a 53. Other Demons included Sydney Stouder at 59, Cecilia Mitchell at 61, and Ashlynn Long at 63.

Keokuk were the champions for the day, both in team score at 198 and individual score, with Carrigan Morris leading the field with a 42. The host Bloodhounds finished second at 211, with Mount Pleasant third at 216 and Fairfield fourth at 230. Burlington finished sixth at 279.
