
Yet another round of severe weather came through southeast Iowa on Friday evening, leading to severe thunderstorms and tornado warnings for much of the KCII-listening area.
The KCII Severe Weather Action Team first took action at 4:13 p.m. when the National Weather Service of the Quad Cities issued a severe thunderstorm warning for portions of Washington, Keokuk, Jefferson, Henry and Van Buren counties. until 5:30 p.m.
A tornado warning was then issued for portions of Washington, Keokuk, Jefferson and Henry counties at 4:37 until 5:30 p.m. Another tornado warning was issued at 5:09 until 6 p.m. for portions of Washington, Johnson, Muscatine, Cedar and Louisa counties.
A second severe thunderstorm warning was issued for portions of Washington, Johnson, Louisa, Muscatine and Cedar counties. Another severe thunderstorm warning was issued at 5:34 p.m. until 6:30 for portions of Washington, Jefferson, Louisa, Henry, Des Moines, Van Buren and Lee counties. As the storm made its way northeast, previous warnings were allowed to expire.
Storm reports included tree damage in Rubio in western Washington County, a semi blown over at the intersection of Highways 1 and 92 northwest of Washington, and storm spotter reports of 70-80 miles per hour winds in portions of rural Washington, Johnson, Louisa and Muscatine counties. As of 6:30 p.m. Friday, Washington, Riverside, Ainsworth, Lone Tree all had reported receiving a half inch of rain.
