The Sigourney boys track and field team started the season Monday with a trip to their rivals at Pekin for the Ruritan Relays. The Savages placed fourth of seven teams with 86 points. English Valleys and Van Buren shared the title with 110 points.

Sigourney had three event wins. A pair from Troy Klett who was dominant in the distance races, taking the mile in 4:51.29 and the two-mile in 10:52.62. Aiden Knepper was the long jump winner at 20′.75”. Other top performances included Klett second in the 800, third for Cole Klett in the 3200, Carson Davis in high jump and Graham Moore in shot put. Fourth place belonged to Knepper in the 200, the 4×100 and 200 team of Carson O’Rourke, Lance Walden, Davis and Knepper, and the 4×800 team of Levi Myers, Isaac Jones, Jordan Anderson and Gauge Little. Fifth place finishers were Little in the 400, the 4×400 team of Wyatt Wehr, Little, Brayden Wood and Troy Klett, the sprint medley of O’Rourke, Walden, Wehr and Wood and Hunter Sellers in high jump.

The Sigourney boys are back in action Thursday when they travel to Belle Plaine.
