A national protest was held Saturday called No Kings Day and the movement had a local footprint.
Local organizers held their own No Kings Day Event in Washington. Organized by the Indivisible Iowa Washington County group, protestors rallied in Sunset Park. Indivisible started as the Indivisible Guide, a Google Doc guide to organizing locally. Now, millions of people have picked up the guide and its name – Indivisible – and organized their own local Indivisible groups to put the guide into action. There are 20 Indivisible groups in Iowa.
There were over 100 people in attendance at the local gathering with signs that read “Peace at home, peace abroad” and “Diversity makes us stronger”.
Nationally, organizers say there were over 3,000 registered events on Saturday, covering every state in the union.
