Area fire departments had the opportunity to train in a controlled environment last Saturday, with Winfield Fire and Rescue leading a house burn on a home in the Winfield area.

According to Winfield Fire and Rescue, the house had previously caught fire and was not salvageable, making a controlled burn the best option for the homeowner. The rural two-story house had multiple agencies working together, as they do in mutual aid situations. Multiple apparatuses were used for the training, including a ladder truck.

Other fire departments that participated include those from the Olds, Mount Pleasant, Morning Sun, Crawford Township Benefited Fire District, and Wapello Fire and Rescue.
