Records were made to be broken. That statement was certainly true for the Hillcrest Academy boys basketball team this winter as their record books underwent a thorough edit.

Senior Rowan Miller made his mark in Hillcrest history, setting four new program records and finishing in the top 10 in school history in three other categories. Miller is all-time Raven assist leader with 481, breaking the previous mark of 435 set by 1992 graduate Jason Hershberger. The helper season record is also Miller’s after 189 his senior season, breaking his own previous mark of 163 set last season. His 189 led the state this year. Miller also set the single game assist record for the Ravens, dishing out 17 dimes in an 87-65 win at Hillcrest Union over Cedar Valley Christian, besting previous mark of 13 held by 2001 alum Karl Yoder. Miller accounted for 7.56 assists per game this year, most ever for a Raven, topping the previous standard of 6.65 set by Mike Hershberger in his 1989 season.

Miller finished third in Raven history with 209 career steals. His 86 takeaways this year were seventh most for the program and his 3.44 steals per game also landed seventh.

Sophomore Gibson Scott pulled in 185 rebounds this season, fourth most in the Southeast Iowa Superconference and ninth most in Raven history.

Hillcrest Academy won the Southeast Iowa Superconference North Division title for the second straight season, the first time they have gone back-to-back in 15 years, ending with a 20-5 overall record.
