It was a big day in Dubuque Tuesday for the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk track and field teams at the 2026 River Valley Conference Indoor Championships.
The Golden Hawk girls are RVC team champs with 105 points, nearly doubling up the 58 from second place Northeast Goose Lake. Along with team gold, the Hawks took home five RVC event titles. The Golden Hawks got a 1-2 sister finish in the 55m dash. Jeorgia Evans is the fastest girl in the River Valley with a time of 7.25 seconds, followed by her sister Jovi Evans as runner-up. Jeorgia Evans made it a double individual gold day by taking long jump, flying 18 feet. Kendal Landstrum was the 1500m winner in 5:00.10. Harper Pacha was the shot put conference champ with a throw of 37’8” and the Golden Hawk Dmed team were River Valley Relay champs with Graci and Myli Hershberger, Tessa Bombei and Kyrie Poll finishing in 4:41.87. Jeorgia Evans was runner-up in the 200. Third place finishes included Tessa Brokaw in the 800, and Jovi Evans in the 200.
The Mid-Prairie boys won back-to-back conference team titles with 75 points, over Iowa City Regina with 52. The Golden Hawks won a pair of RVC event titles. Ryan Henry was the fastest man in the conference, winning the 55m in 6.50 seconds. The Golden Hawk 4×200 team were also winners with Nolan Jergens, Kentrick Kos, Oliver Miller and Ryan Henry going 1:33.79. River Valley Runners-up included Max Swartzentruber in the mile and Ryan Henry in 200. Third place events included Nolan Jergens in the 400, Max Swartzentruber in the half mile, and Tommy Miller in shot put.
The Golden Hawk boys and girls open the outdoor season next week at Mount Pleasant.
