The Washington girls track and field team placed sixth out of 22 teams at the Central College High School Girls meet on Saturday.

Jaedyn Moore was the top Demon sprinter in the 100m, placing ninth with a time of 12.81. Rounding out the rest of Washington’s top five were Leighton Messinger (17th, 13.18), Emma Lins (56th, 14.20), Lillyn Magdefrau (63rd, 14.3o), and Kaleah Gerdes (84th, 14.65).

In the 100m hurdles, Messinger was the top Washington finisher, placing 11th with a time of 17.16. Other hurdlers included Magdefrau (28th, 18.77), Gerdes (43rd, 20.74), and Lins (45th, 20.98).

Moore was the overall champion in the 200m, taking top position with a time of 25.86. Other Demon runners in the team’s top five were Lauren Drahota (20th, 28.10), Jaslyn Villa (22nd, 28.28), Sawyer Manz (62nd, 30.12), and Sparkle Jones (78th, 30.56).

In the 400m, Villa finished tenth with a time of 1:06:09. She was joined by Brynlee Flynn (13th, 1:07.94) and Manz (30th, 1:12.32).

Iris Dahl picked up a fourth place finish in the 800m with a time of 2:27.19. She was followed by Parker Coleman (42nd, 3:09.03) and Kenzie Thomas (49th, 3:42.72).

Emma Horak was the lone competitor in the 1500m, taking 22nd with a time of 6:05.86.

Messinger took first place in the girls high jump, winning the tiebreaker on countbacks at a height of 1.57m. Lauren Drahota also competed, taking 13th with a cleared height of 1.32m.

Villa grabbed another top ten finish in the long jump, taking seventh with a leap of 4.67m. Gerdes finished 20th with a jump of 4.10m.

Kinley Miksch was the top Demon finisher in the shot put, taking 21st with a throw of 8.54m. Other Demon throwers included Emma Mullens (22nd, 8.43m), Taylor Miksch (35th, 7.35m), Vivienne Kroll (40th, 6.83m), and Grace Quinn (42nd, 6.72m).

Washington put forward four relay teams. In the 4x100m, the team of Magdefrau, Gerdes, Lins, and Villa took ninth with a time of 54.70. In the 4x200m, the team of Kroll, Mya Green, Emma Mullens, and Quinn finished 11th with a time of 2:10.29. The team of Messinger, Moore, Drahota, and Dahl took second in the 4x400m with a time of 4:12.83, and the team of Drahota, Horak, Flynn, and Dahl took 10th in the 4x800m with a time of 11:14.77.

The Demon girls next compete March 31st at the 2026 Falcon Relays at West Burlington.
