The City of Riverside held a public hearing for the estimated $400,000 sanitary sewer rehabilitation project at the most recent city council meeting. The project is expected to work on the lining and make some repairs on the Riverside sewers.

The preliminary cost is listed at $390,000 by Veenstra & Kimm, Inc. including a 10% contingency. The project includes sanitary sewer cleaning, televising, and in-place pipe lining.

Bids for the project will be received April 2nd with the contract set to be awarded on April 6th. The notice to proceed will be April 27th and the work is expected to be completed by the end of October.

The public hearings were held to go over project plans, how bidding would go out on the project, and established a schedule for the project. Property owners who will be affected by the project were invited to the hearings. City Administrator Cole Smith said they wanted to get bids from the property owners to make the project more affordable, “The entire point of looping those costs into the project is that by getting bids on this for 35 or 40 different property owners, we can actually lower the cost to everyone to do that repair. It’s their responsibility to do, but hopefully we can offer a cost that is more affordable than what they could otherwise find on the market.”

Smith says that the council plans to get bids back at the beginning of April.
