A pair of Sigourney-Keota Cobra football players have been named All-State by multiple outlets for their work on the field this fall.
Senior Owen Menke was named First-Team All-State in Class 1A on the offensive line by the Iowa Football Coaches Association, Iowa Grandstand Sports and Iowa Print Sports Writer’s Association. Menke was part of an offensive line that helped SK score 287 points on the season. Menke led Class 1A with 46 pancake blocks. Defensively, he finished with 31 tackles, eight for loss, a sack, two fumble recoveries and an interception.
Junior Chase Clarahan was a Second-Team All-State selection for the IFCA, Iowa Grandstand Sports and Iowa Print Sports Writer’s Association. He had 50 tackles, seven stops for loss with a sack and a forced fumble. Offensively, he added three touchdowns, two throwing and was the second team district punter, averaging 39 yards per kick.
Both Menke and Clarahan were First-Team All-District choices in 1A District 6. Sigourney-Keota ended the season with a 5-5 overall record, advancing to the second round of the playoffs.
