As temperatures warm up, the fishing conditions at Lake Darling are changing with the season. The Iowa Department of Natural Resources states there is some skim ice found on the upper end of the lake and some of the bays thanks to the recent snows and changes in air temperatures. With the weekend forecast projecting high temperatures around 80 degrees, water temperatures are projected to make a quick return to the upper 40s or low 50s.
Fish that can be caught in Lake Darling include black crappie, bluegill, channel catfish, largemouth bass, and redear sunfish.
