
The Golden Hawk speech team continues to roll along, with seven students picking up 11 nominations to the upcoming Iowa High School Speech Association Individual Events All-State Festival on March 30th.
Thirteen students competed in 21 different events at the IHSSA Individual Events Speech Contest at Vinton-Shellburg High School on March 14th. The team picked up 19 Division I ratings, and a further 11 earned nominations to the all-state festival later this month.
Students moving on to the festival include:
- Jillian Clark – Acting
- Ryann Dolan – Acting, Solo Musical Theatre
- Wren Harris – Interpretive Prose, After Dinner Speaking
- Brock Lowenberg – Interpretive Poetry, Solo Improvisation
- Fiona McClellan – Storytelling
- Caroline Schrader – Acting, Solo Musical Theatre
- Kenna Scrock – Interpretive Poetry
In addition, Caroline Schrader has broken the school record for career All-State nominations. With two nominations to this year’s festival, Schrader will finish her career with 11 nominations. The record was previously held by Haydon Bailey, who graduated in 2024.
