Highland senior Kenzie Davis has been nominated for the Iowa Girls Coaches Association E. Wayne Cooley “You Can Award” for the 2025-2026 season.

The award is intended for athletes that show good character and influence their team in a positive manner. Players can be nominated by a coach, official, or media member. Davis was nominated by Highland head coach Jody Fink.

In Fink’s nomination, he discusses Davis losing her track, softball, and volleyball seasons due to a knee injury. Despite that, Davis stuck out as a leader by assisting the underclassman and adapting to a sixth man role off the bench for her senior year. Fink said that Davis is the perfect example of what you’d want in a teammate.

The award is given out in appreciation of the longtime Executive Secretary of the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union, E. Wayne Cooley. Fink’s nomination of Davis in full can be read on the IGCA’s website.
