Highland Community School District has announced that it will partner with the Highland Athletic Booster Club to create a new Strength and Conditioning Coordinator position.

Highland activities director Jody Fink said that the school is seeking a certified trainer to make the students stronger, “We’re just trying to unify all our sports together and really look at trying to strengthen our student body and student-athletes altogether.”

Fink said that the interview process has already begun, “We do have some candidates lined up, and we are interviewing. Our hope is to start their program right away this summer. Some of the people we are interviewing have jobs at other place. Our best hope is that they start here right away this summer and get the plan incorporated. If we can get somebody else before that then that would be great, but our hope is at least by the first of the summer.”

The coordinator will begin work this summer with middle school and high school student-athletes providing strength and conditioning programming. A figure for annual salary is not available at this time. More information will be provided by Highland Schools in the coming weeks.
