The Leadership Washington class learned all about agriculture in Washington this month.
Participants spent the day immersed in Washington County agriculture during the annual Leadership Washington Agriculture Day, which is coordinated by volunteers with the Washington Chamber of Commerce and local agricultural leaders.
Throughout the day, participants heard from producers, ag businesses, and industry experts representing a wide range of agricultural sectors including livestock production, crop farming, equipment sales, and agricultural services. Topics discussed included logistics and industry perspectives, pork production and equipment, grain production and the future of farming, and strengthening connections to agriculture.
Agriculture day was led by Rachel Fishback of People of Ag Media, Andy Miller with Washington County Extension, and Amanda Russell of Bazooka Farmstar. The event was held in memory of longtime agriculture day coordinators Nancy Adrian and Sheryl Lewis, whose dedication helped build the program into a cornerstone leadership experience for the community.
From livestock production and crop farming to equipment sales and agricultural logistics, the day highlighted how agriculture remains a driving force behind the region’s economy and community.
