Two Washington Demons girls’ basketball players have been named to this year’s Iowa Girls’ Coaches Association All-State Academic Team.

Adalyn Long and Leighton Messinger have both been named to the team. To get a spot on the team, athletes must be in the senior year and pass two of three criteria: having a cumulative GPA above 3.85, an ACT score of 27 or higher or a 1200 or higher on the SAT, and ranking within the top 5 percent of their class.

Both Long and Messinger were featured players on a Demons squad that finished 12-11 under head coach Colin Mulford.
