Sign-ups are open for 4-H members interested in the regional junior summer camp hosted by Washington County.

This year participants will “Ropin’ in the Memories” together June 9th and 10th at Crooked Creek Camp located outside of Washington. It is a two-day and one-night camp for current 4-H members in 4th-6th grades. This camp is hosted by Region 19 which includes Washington, Johnson, Keokuk, and Iowa counties.

Participants will experience fishing, canoeing, outdoor nature water slides, art, science, dancing, smores, and more. New program plans include rodeo stories from Miss Iowa Teen Rodeo with team work challenges, cowboy campfire cookies, wood branding, hikes and more. It is expected that participants stay for the entirety of camp and are not able to come and go to other activities.

The final registration cost is $160, and scholarships are available upon request. The fees for service will be used to offset direct expenses and to support the 4-H Youth Development County Extension Programs.

To accommodate the interest in junior camp, there will be a lottery drawing from those registered to fill the limited spots. Those interested can register online from now through May 1st with no money down until after the lottery drawing for the allotted spots. All those registered will be notified May 5 of the outcome of the drawing so other summer plans can be confirmed.
