
Several area boys teams’ competed at the IATC Indoor Track Championships in Ames late last week.
Mid-Prairie finished fourth in Class 2A with 34 team points. Ryan Henry finished first in the 60m finals with a time of 6.99. Henry also placed third in the 200m with a time of 22.62. Kendrick Kos and Carson Humphrey competed in the 60m hurdle prelims, placing tenth and 17th with times of 8.75 and 9.11 respectively. Max Swartzentruber placed sixth in the 3200m with a time of 10:04.05. In the relays, the team of Kos, Humphrey, Thomas Lueck, and Max Kipp placed fifth in the 4x60m shuttle hurdle relay with a total time of 36.21. And in the 4x800m relay, the team of Swartzentruber, Kipp, Bronx Miller, and Lenox Miller placed seventh with a time of 8:53.09. In the long jump, Lueck was the top performer, finishing eighth with a jump of 19’07”. Oliver Miller took 12th with a jump of 19’03”, and Bronx Miller took 23rd with a jump of 18’00”. Josh Turner finished 13th in the high jump by clearing 5’07”. Tommy Miller was the lone Golden Hawk thrower, taking second in shot put with a heave of 48’08”.
Washington’s boys placed 15th in Class 3A with 12 points. Isaac Medrano finished 25th in the 60m hurdle prelims with a time of 9.24. Sawyer Tchantz took tenth in the 800m with a time of 2:05.18. In the 1600m, Andrew Rees placed fifth with a time of 4:33.48. For the relays, the team of Eli Wulf, Liam Roberts, Kael Williams, and Medrano finished 13th in the 4x100m relay with a time of 45.02. Sawyer Tschantz, Parker Tschantz, Rees, and Ethan Hotchkiss placed second in the 4x800m relay with a time of 8:29:20. Brady Krantz competed in shot put, placing 21st with a throw of 43’09”. In addition, Josh Anderson competed in the 200m wheelchair, finishing with a time of 37.34.
The Columbus Wildcats finished ninth in Class 2A with 22.5 points. Djamar Exantus finished 24th in the 60m prelims with a time of 7.41. Lamar Ceant and Alex Rees put down top five performances in the 60m hurdles, finishing second and third with times of 8.12 and 8.18. Ceant and Rees also ran in the 200m, taking seventh and 20th with times of 23.10 and 23.85. In the 800m, Victor Tovar finished 16th with a 2:11.08, Ryan Villa finished 21st with a 2:14.26, and Cade Storm finished 22nd with a 2:15.13. Villa finished 15th in the 1600m with a 4:56.76. Three Wildcat relays competed. The team of Exantus, Rees, Tyson Corneille, and Ceant took fifth in the 4x100m relay with a time of 44.55. The team of Lando Garza, Storm, Tyson Kaalberg, and Corneille finished 13th in the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:45.93. And the team of Storm, Kevin Villa, Tovar, and Ryan Villa placed eighth in the 4x800m relay with a time of 8:53.46. Wildcat jumpers included Donovan Rees, who placed eighth in high jump with a cleared height of 5’09”, and Ceant, who took 20th in the long jump with a distance of 18’06”. Fritz Figaro placed eighth in the shot put with a throw of 44’11”, and Ronaldo Villegas finished 18th with a throw of 41’08”.
Three other area teams competed in Class 1A. Winfield-Mt. Union’s Cruz Hagmeier finished ninth in the 60m hurdle prelims with a time of 8.86. In the 1600m sprint medley relay, the team of Brayden Cline, Tayson Samuels, Jaxton Jones, and Hagmeier finished tenth with a time of 4:07.05. And in the 4x400m relay, the team of Bowen Thomson, Colin Anderson, Cline, and Jones took 20th finishing with a time of 3:52.88. Sigourney’s Troy Klett and Levi Myers competed in the 800m, finishing seventh and 25th with times of 2:05.83 and 2:18.20, respectively. Lone Tree’s Domonic Garcia finished 17th in the 60m prelims with a time of 7.38. Garcia also took 16th in the 200m, with a time of 24 seconds even.
